Holy Cross got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mona Okorie out in front who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks. Okorie is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nafi Balde, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and two blocks.
Massapequa's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-2. As for Holy Cross, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Massapequa will square off against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Holy Cross, they will head out on the road to face off against the Royals at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Christ the King has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 560 points over their last eight games.
