The Rivercrest Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 63-45 bruising from De Kalb. Rivercrest lost against De Kalb in their previous head to head back in December of 2020, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 67-20 score last time.
Rivercrest's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Duvall, who scored 18 points. Duvall scored a full 40% of Rivercrest's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Maggie Jean was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 10 rebounds.
Rivercrest has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for De Kalb, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Rivercrest will be playing at home against Caddo Mills at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Caddo Mills is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. De Kalb will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on New Boston at 6:15 p.m. on December 15th.
