The McLoud Redskins will challenge the Tuttle Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: McLoud has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Tuttle will arrive with four straight wins.
Friday just wasn't the day for McLoud's offense. They came up short against North Rock Creek on Friday, falling 13-0.
McLoud got a good showing from Eli Raines, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, McLoud saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb Fox, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Fox has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Tuttle made easy work of Oologah on Saturday and carried off a 10-1 victory. Considering the Tigers have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jackson Johnson made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tuttle got a massive performance out of Hudson Heathco, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Traylon Barnes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Tuttle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oologah only posted an OBP of .176.
Tuttle's win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for McLoud, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
McLoud might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Tuttle in their previous meeting back in April of 2016. Will the Redskins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
