The Olathe Pirates won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-44 loss at the hands of Meeker. Olathe has not had much luck with Meeker recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Olathe saw an underclassman step up: Isaiah Gordon scored 27 points. Gordon is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeyden Estrada, who scored six points.
Meeker got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jace Mobley out in front who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mobley has scored all season. Jonathan Fitzgibbons was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Olathe's loss was their 11th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-6. As for Meeker, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Olathe will be playing in front of their home fans against Cedaredge at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Cedaredge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday. As for Meeker, they will head out on the road to face off against Grand Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Grand Valley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
