If the Las Lomas Knights were riding high off their 83-46 takedown of the Concord Bears last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Las Lomas fell 64-54 to the Dons on Monday. Las Lomas was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Las Lomas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colin Pangilinan. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pangilinan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Jones, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Acalanes' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddox Malm, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gavin Dodge, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Las Lomas has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season. As for Acalanes, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-18.
Las Lomas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Acalanes won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Ugly Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Clayton Valley Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully the Dons like a good challenge.
