One of the most notable came from Mya Skelton, who went 9 for 12 on her way to 22 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. What's more, Skelton also racked up four steals, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madalynn Shirley, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.
Skelton wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Evansville Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Heritage Hills 57-27. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-10.
Evansville Central will have to keep a close watch on Taylor Ellison and Addison Chilton, a pair of players who had a big impact on Mt. Vernon's prior game. Ellison posted ten points, while Chilton earned six points and three steals.
Evansville Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-21.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Evansville Central hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.9 points per game. It's a different story for Mt. Vernon, though, as they've been averaging only 22.1 points. The only thing between Evansville Central and another offensive beatdown is Mt. Vernon. Will they be able to keep them contained?
