The Lugoff-Elgin Demons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 20th straight defeat. Their rough 72-50 loss to A.C. Flora might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lugoff-Elgin in their matchups with A.C. Flora: they've now lost seven in a row.
Lugoff-Elgin's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Teryn Hobson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Jillian Rush who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Rush hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Kamille Charles, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lugoff-Elgin were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. This was only their 14th loss (out of 17 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead A.C. Flora to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tamira Delaney, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Skylar McCray was another key contributor, scoring 27 points along with two steals.
Lugoff-Elgin's defeat was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-22. As for A.C. Flora, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-6.
Lugoff-Elgin will head out on the road to challenge Irmo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lugoff-Elgin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Tuesday. As for A.C. Flora, they will be playing at home against Ridge View at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in A.C. Flora's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
