Lilly Hauser made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in June of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taelyn Holley, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gracy Zamora, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Murrieta Mesa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 14 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Ayala came tearing into Thursday's game with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They didn't even let the Warriors on the board, marking their second-straight 6-0 shutout. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.
Allie Lukaszewicz looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Marisa Dominguez was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taelor Walker, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Ayala's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Murrieta Mesa, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7-1.
Both Murrieta Mesa and Ayala just can't seem to miss. The Rams have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Ayala struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Murrieta Mesa beat Ayala 9-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
