The Arnold Marlins will take on the Franklin County Flyers in a tournament on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Arnold saw some tournament action on Thursday. They put the hurt on Owensboro Catholic with a sharp 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Marlins, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Jackson Ross made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Arnold is 4-1 when Ross allows three or fewer hits, but 8-10 otherwise. Ross was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Arnold let Braxton Greve and Conor McCann run wild. Greve got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while McCann went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave McCann a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Franklin County can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Cumberland County. The Flyers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 20th (when they won 10-2).
Like Arnold, Franklin County also got a great game from a two-way player: Traycen Scott. Throwing, Scott tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Jack Ross tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Scott went 3-for-4 with one RBI, while Ross went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Ross has hit this season.
In other batting news, Nate Ross was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those triples were his first of the season. Jae Kennedy-Aitken was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Franklin County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Arnold now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Franklin County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
