The Clopton Hawks have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to Quincy Notre Dame 45-39. Clopton lost against Quincy Notre Dame in their previous head to head back in February of 2016, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 64-34 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Clopton lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Braya Smith. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Smith is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Hammett, who scored six points along with two steals.
Clopton's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6. As for Quincy Notre Dame, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-4.
Clopton and Van-Far will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Quincy Notre Dame, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Okawville at 6:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Okawville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six last Thursday.
