The Williamsville East Flames suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 63-28 loss at the hands of West Seneca West. While losing is never fun, Williamsville East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while West Seneca West is ranked 134th).
West Seneca West got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Ecker out in front who scored 12 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ava Gunnells, who scored 14 points along with five blocks.
Williamsville East has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for West Seneca West, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Williamsville East will head out on the road to challenge Sweet Home at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Seneca West, they will be playing at home against Amherst Central at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
