The Upper Cape Cod RVT Rams fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Avon Panthers on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to the Panthers. Upper Cape Cod RVT has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Josiah Guerrier was his usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and seven blocks for Avon. Guerrier hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Edwards, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Upper Cape Cod RVT's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Avon, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Upper Cape Cod RVT will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Sturgis West at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Avon won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Falmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. Falmouth Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
