The Christian Patriots will challenge the Mira Mesa Marauders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Christian's favor as the team sits on 14 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Mira Mesa has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Christian picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Mater Dei Catholic 3-1.
Alyssa McCurty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ashley Wood, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).
Meanwhile, Mira Mesa came into Tuesday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Grossmont by a score of 9-4 on Tuesday.
Brooklyn Haug was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Haug was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Carla Murguia was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isabel Novak, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Mira Mesa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Mira Mesa's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Christian, their win bumped their record up to 14-3-1.
Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Mira Mesa in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 7-4. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Marauders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
