It was a good run, but the Camden Blue Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by Rome Free Academy on the road and fell 85-46. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Camden has scored all season.
Rome Free Academy was led to victory by Uzziah Grimes and Surafia Norries. Grimes scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and four steals, while Norries dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. Norries is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Deandre Neal was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Camden's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Rome Free Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Camden will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Oneida at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Rome Free Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Notre Dame will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 671st, while Rome Free Academy is ranked 21st).
