They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Vancleave 45-6 at home. Given Laurel's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Vancleave is ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Vancleave lost, one person who can't be blamed is Derik Forehand. Despite the final result, he rushed for 144 yards.
Laurel's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Vancleave, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6.
Laurel will challenge Wayne County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Vancleave, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Central is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
