Winslow and Mount View are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Black Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Winslow is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Monday just wasn't the day for Winslow's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to Cony, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mount View). They put the hurt on Boothbay with a sharp 16-6 win on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Stuart Knowlton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Mount View is undefeated when Knowlton allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Knowlton was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cole Gerrish was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Nash, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Mount View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Winslow's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Mount View, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Winslow might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Mount View in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Black Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
