The Wortham Bulldogs are on the road again on Friday and play against the Axtell Longhorns at 5:00 p.m. on December 15th. Wortham comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Tuesday, Wortham was beaten by Valley Mills 47-10. While losing is never fun, Wortham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1510th, while Valley Mills is ranked 709th).
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Axtell, who are still winless after their eighth game. They took a 35-19 bruising from Rio Vista on Tuesday.
Wortham bumped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Axtell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Wortham was taken down by Axtell 74-10 when the teams last played back in February. Can Wortham avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
