Softball Recap: Bethany Community Has No Trouble Against Leadership Academy

Bethany Community got themselves on the board against Leadership Academy on Thursday, but Leadership Academy never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Peyton Weavil made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Berger, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mattie Southard, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Bethany Community has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Leadership Academy, they moved to 7-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Bethany Community and Leadership Academy will both be playing Cornerstone Charter the next time they take the field. The Wolves will host the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Falcons will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
