The Brookfield Central Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Oak Creek 65-33. While losing is never fun, Brookfield Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Oak Creek is ranked 89th).
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josie Piurkowski, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Kroeplin, who scored eight points.
Brookfield Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Oak Creek, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Brookfield Central is on the road again on Friday and play against Menomonee Falls at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. As for Oak Creek, they will be playing at home against Whitefish Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Whitefish Bay is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
