It was a good run, but the Trinity Christian Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Starr's Mill. Trinity Christian lost against Starr's Mill in their previous head to head on January 6th, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 82-52 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Trinity Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gabbie Grooms. Despite the final result, she scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Bennett, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Trinity Christian's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Starr's Mill, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian on the road again on Saturday and play against LaGrange at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. LaGrange is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Starr's Mill, they will head out on the road to challenge McIntosh at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. McIntosh will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Starr's Mill is ranked 122nd).
