The Grant Generals''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Tahlequah at home and fell 44-0. Grant lost against Tahlequah in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 70-0 score last time.
Tahlequah was led to victory by Darryn Spahr and Cash Mcalvain. Spahr rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while Mcalvain rushed for 97 yards. Mcalvain was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards.
Grant's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 2.0 points per game. As for Tahlequah, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grant will challenge Putnam City West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Putnam City West is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Tahlequah, they will head out on the road to face off against Stillwater at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stillwater will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
