Having struggled with five losses in a row, Jo Byrns turned things around against Portland on Friday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 13-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Devils considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Lauren Vaughan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hadlee Blocker was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Adelyn Finley was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Jo Byrns hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Todd County Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Hopkins County Central get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Storm: they've now won nine in a row.
Todd County Central's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addison Woodall, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases.
Jo Byrns picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Todd County Central, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
