The Jackson Aggies waltzed into their match Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 52-44 win over Hillcrest. That's another feather in the cap for Jackson, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jackson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Micah Caster, who scored 24 points. The contest was Caster's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeyun Chapman, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, Hillcrest still got an impressive performance from Robert Simpson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jermonte Stallworth , who scored 13 points.
Hillcrest struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Jackson pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Jackson pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Hillcrest, their loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson will stay at home for another game and welcome T.R. Miller at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. T.R. Miller will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Jackson is ranked 65th). As for Hillcrest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against W.S. Neal at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
