After two games on the road, Manteo is heading back home. They will take on the Gates County Red Barons at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Gates County took a loss in their last  matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Manteo, who comes in off a win.
 On Tuesday, Manteo got the win against Northeastern  by a conclusive  13-2.
  Nemo Govan looked comfortable as he  struck out seven batters over  3.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (and not a single walk).
 At the plate,  Drew Brown was  incredible,  scoring three  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was  Jack Woodson, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.
 Meanwhile, Gates County fell victim to North Raleigh Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew  on Saturday. They wound up on the wrong side of a  rough 10-0 walloping at the hands of the Knights. Gates County's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
 Manteo is  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four games,  which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record  this season. As for Gates County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
 The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Manteo has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 6.6  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Gates County struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 7.6. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
 Everything went Manteo's way against Gates County in their previous meeting  back in May of 2021 as Manteo made off with  an  11-4 victory. Does  Manteo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gates County turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
