The Hartsburg-Emden Stags lost against the Edinburg Wildcats back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Hartsburg-Emden was beaten by the Wildcats 84-49. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hartsburg-Emden in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Hartsburg-Emden still got an impressive performance from Evan Cross, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 42.9% of Hartsburg-Emden's points, marking the 14th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jace Whitted, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Hartsburg-Emden's defeat dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Edinburg, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hartsburg-Emden's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Illini Bluffs will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. As for Edinburg, they will head out on the road to square off against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Olive is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
