Long Beach Poly is 1-9 against Millikan since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits will head out on the road to challenge the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Long Beach Poly will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Long Beach Poly and Lakewood meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Jackrabbits blew past the Lancers 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Jackrabbits, who have now won three games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Not much got past Tegan Breaux, who gave up just six hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Lakewood off the board. Breaux has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Persjah Lam Sam was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2025. Harper Daniel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Long Beach Poly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Millikan had just enough and edged out Kennedy 3-1 on Thursday.
Jade Torres looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Millikan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauryn Kim, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Kim has snagged this season.
Long Beach Poly's record is now 4-0. As for Millikan, their record now sits at 10-4.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Long Beach Poly hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .441. However, it's not like Millikan struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Long Beach Poly came up short against Millikan when the teams last played back in April of 2025, falling 8-3. Can the Jackrabbits avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
