Section 11 Division II recap Oct. 23, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to West Babylon, who took down 254th ranked Newfield, 13-9.
Whitman moved up to 362 from 402 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 11 Division II. The Wildcats were able to make move up by defeating Centereach 51-24.
Riverhead's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Blue Waves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ryan Bitzer has thrown for 999 yards and eight touchdowns this season, while Funn Quinn has 31 catches for 506 yards. Jerimiah Cheatom leads the league in rushing with 1225 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when West Islip takes on Smithtown East. As it stands, the Lions are in first, while the Bulls are in third.
The Eagles were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to seventh in Section 11 Division II. West Babylon defeated the Wolverines 13-9 earlier in the week.
