The Windermere Wolverines will take on The First Academy Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Windermere 3.2, The First Academy 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Monday, Windermere was able to grind out a solid win over Boone, taking the game 7-2. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Windermere got a great performance from Justin Margelos as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Margelos has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Dublin Warren was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Diego Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, The First Academy faced Windermere in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Royals' pitchers stepped up to hand the Wolverines a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Blake Fields was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other pitching news, Thomas Achey tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Cannon Koronka, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Erick Martinez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
The First Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windermere struck out ten times.
The First Academy pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Windermere, their win bumped their record up to 19-5.
