After a string of seven wins, The Stamford Bulldogs''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Hawley 34-30. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Stamford in their matchups with Hawley: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Stamford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaston Vega. Despite the final result, he rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown. Vega is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last five games he's played. Christian Duran also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Keagan Ables was his usual excellent self, throwing for 274 yards and three touchdowns. Ables hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for five straight games.
Stamford's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Hawley, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2.
Stamford will take on Colorado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colorado will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1043rd, while Stamford is ranked 521st). As for Hawley, they will head out on the road to face off against Cisco on Friday.
