Baseball Recap: Pittsfield Wins Going Away Against North Greene

Pittsfield came out on top against North Greene on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Saukees put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Saukees have won 15 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lane Foster was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Pittsfield: the team is 13-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Ferguson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pittsfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive games.

Pittsfield's win bumped their record up to 19-10. As for North Greene, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Pittsfield will challenge Triopia at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. North Greene does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
