Softball Recap: Wolfe City Wins Going Away Against Campbell

Wolfe City got themselves on the board against Campbell on Friday, but Campbell never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Indians. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hylee Crowell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Miley Davis was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Venessa Calderon also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Wolfe City and bumps their season record up to 17-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Campbell, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Wolfe City will challenge rival Saltillo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Campbell is set to face off against their familiar foe Cooper at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
