Ezekiel Academy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Hooper Academy Colts. Ten seems to be a good number for the Knights as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Sarah Vick made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Jones, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Jillian Newell was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Ezekiel Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.6.

Ezekiel Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Hooper Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2.

Coming up, Ezekiel Academy will take on Tuscaloosa Home Educators at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hooper Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fort Dale Academy at 5:30 p.m. on March 31st.
