Buena is 0-7 against Canyon del Oro since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Buena Colts will be taking part in a tournament against the Canyon del Oro Dorados at 10:30 a.m. Buena is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Canyon del Oro will be up against a hot Buena squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Buena sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Walden Grove on Tuesday.

Angel Olivarez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryson Haymore, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Austin Cushman was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Buena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walden Grove only posted a batting average of .296.
Meanwhile, Canyon del Oro owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Seton Catholic. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dorados.
Canyon del Oro's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Carson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Canyon del Oro's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Buena, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Buena's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. Buena has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Canyon del Oro, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Buena continue to outrun the ball?
Buena couldn't quite get it done against Canyon del Oro when the teams last played back in March of 2022 as they fell 9-4. Can Buena avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
