Chatfield is 0-5 against Ralston Valley since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Chargers will head out to square off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. This will be Chatfield's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
Chatfield managed to slip by Douglas County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Chargers lost 44-20 to the Huskies on Thursday. The Chargers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-6.
The losing side was boosted by Cash Williams, who rushed for 113 yards and one score on only 15 carries, and also threw for 100 yards and one touchdown. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 69 yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Emerson Lakra, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Ralston Valley faced Valor Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mustangs blew past the Eagles 38-14. Considering the Mustangs have won three games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Chatfield better keep an eye on Zeke Andrews. He was instrumental in Ralston Valley's win, rushing for 121 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 215 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 16 passes. Those 121 rushing yards gave Andrews a new career-high. Ralston Valley's leading receiver Nico Benallo was Andrews' top target yet again, picking up 96 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one rushing score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ralston Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Ralston Valley's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.
The victory keeps Ralston Valley at an undefeated 5-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 35.0 points this season. As for Chatfield, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
| Passing Yards | 794 |
| Passing Touchdowns | 12 |
| Passer Rating | 96.4 |
| Rushing Yards | 164 |
| Rushing Touchdowns | 2 |
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Williams and Andrews. Williams just won't slow down this season and has thrown 12 touchdowns while averaging 158.8 passing yards per game. Andrews has been a dominant force too and has thrown 14 touchdowns while averaging 257.2 passing yards per game.
Chatfield and Ralston Valley were almost perfectly matched up when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but Chatfield suffered an agonizing 5-4 loss. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Andrews, who rushed for 53 yards and one TD, and also threw for 178 yards while completing 72% of his passes. Now that the Chargers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
