Northview has gone a perfect 8-0 against Shakamak recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Knights will take on the Lakers at 5:30 p.m. Northview has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Northview came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-1 to Cascade.
Northview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Finley Frazier, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Frazier hit this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shakamak). They came out on top in a nail-biter against Washington on Tuesday, sneaking past 12-10. With that win, the Lakers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Madelyn Kennett made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Kennett was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jamison Ewers, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Emmalyn Wolfe, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Northview's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Shakamak, their record is now 2-3.
Shakamak's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Northview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Shakamak, though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 strikeouts. Will Northview keep running through batters, or will the Lakers buck the trend?
Northview was able to grind out a solid victory over Shakamak when the teams last played back in April of 2023, winning 10-5. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lakers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
