The Christian Academy Saints had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 36-23 win over Laurence Manning Academy. For Christian Academy, this counts as revenge for the 48-32 loss Laurence Manning Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2015.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Claire Owens, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Owens is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Payton Rumley was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds.
Christian Academy's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Laurence Manning Academy, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
After both having extra time off, Christian Academy and Hannah-Pamplico will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Hannah-Pamplico comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Laurence Manning Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Holly Hill Academy at 6:15 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
