The Sanford Indians will square off against the Ignacio Bobcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sanford has five straight victories, Ignacio has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Sanford's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Sierra Grande with a sharp 20-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

JD Faucette made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sanford got a massive performance out of Roman Edgar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Edgar has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Travis Canty, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Sanford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .833. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .368 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Ignacio lost 12-4 to Cedaredge on Thursday.
Joseph Attencio was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Evan Maez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Ignacio's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Sanford, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sanford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .466. However, it's not like Ignacio struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sanford might still be hurting after the 27-7 loss they got from Ignacio in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Indians have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
