Clay is 8-2 against Whitmer since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Clay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Clay's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Southview as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Jayce Derr looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Brannan Vargas was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Darin Fussell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Whitmer posted their closest victory since April 20th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Bowling Green 3-2.
Drew Brindley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Whitmer's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mitchell Rose, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Whitmer hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Clay skirted past Whitmer 1-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
