Kingsway has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Holy Spirit Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
After soaring to 34 points the game before, Kingsway were a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They were beaten by Cherokee 34-7. While losing is never fun, Kingsway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Cherokee is ranked seventh).
Despite the defeat, Kingsway got a solid performance out of Benny Liles III, who picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Holy Spirit made easy work of Vineland two weeks ago and carried off a 32-6 win. The result was nothing new for Holy Spirit, who have now won four contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
Holy Spirit's victory bumped their season record to 6-1 while Kingsway's defeat dropped theirs to 5-3.
Kingsway came up short against Holy Spirit in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 31-27. Can Kingsway avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
