Basketball Recap: Mechanicsville Skates Past Spotsylvania with Ease

Mechanicsville won against Colonial Heights last Monday with 65 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Mechanicsville Mustangs blew past the Spotsylvania Knights 65-29. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Leading Mechanicsville to victory were Carys Khan and Kate Carlton. Khan went 5-for-10 en route to 14 points and five steals, while Carlton posted 13 points and five steals. Mechanicsville is undefeated when Khan posts five or more steals, but 7-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Frantz, who scored 11 points and five boards.

The win got Mechanicsville back to even at 11-11. As for Spotsylvania, their loss was their 12th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-19.

Looking ahead, Mechanicsville will square off against Eastern View at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Mechanicsville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Eastern View likes a good challenge. Spotsylvania does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
