You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Hilton Head Island Seahawks's strategy against the May River Sharks on Friday. Hilton Head Island walked away with a 45-34 win over May River. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hilton Head Island.
Hilton Head Island got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Deja Godsun out in front who scored ten points along with five assists. Amaya Wroten was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, May River still got an impressive performance from Nia Taylor, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Taylor pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Dalton, who scored five points along with four steals.
Hilton Head Island's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-15. As for May River, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilton Head Island will take on Lucy Beckham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lucy Beckham focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for May River, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Colleton County at 6:00 p.m. May River is on a three-game streak of home losses, Colleton County a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
