Meanwhile, Chicago Christian waltzed into their match on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Wildcats. Considering the Knights have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Michael Millaney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Austin Assink was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Rafe Slager, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Chicago Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
St. Edward's defeat dropped their record down to 1-23. As for Chicago Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 19-9.
