The Calhoun Red Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Williamstown Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Calhoun will be strutting in after a victory while Williamstown will be coming in after a defeat.
Calhoun will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Valley on Thursday. The Red Devils came out on top against the Lumberjacks by a score of 10-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Red Devils' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Remedy Riddel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Calhoun let Gabi Smith and Raylee Cunningham run wild. Smith got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Cunningham went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Cunningham has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Karlee Nelson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Williamstown fell victim to Gilmer County and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Titans, falling 17-0. The loss continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost five in a row.
Williamstown's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Calhoun, they moved to 5-17 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
Williamstown's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Calhoun has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Williamstown, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Calhoun keep running through batters, or will the Yellowjackets buck the trend?
Everything went Calhoun's way against Williamstown in their previous matchup back in May of 2019, as Calhoun made off with an 11-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
