The Gaylord Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to St.Ignace 68-62. While losing is never fun, Gaylord can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while St.Ignace is ranked 71st).
When it comes to explaining why Gaylord lost, one person who can't be blamed is Luke Gelow. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 54.8% of Gaylord's points, marking the 11th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Cayden Keck, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Gaylord's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for St.Ignace, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gaylord will take on Traverse City West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Traverse City West is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for St.Ignace, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cheboygan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
