Reed hasn't had much luck against Douglas recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Raiders will face off against the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Douglas will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Reed extended their winning streak to nine on Thursday. The Raiders blew past Reno 11-1.
The team relied heavily on Kehaulani Tambaoan, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Tiare Kanae, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Reed always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reno only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, Douglas faced McQueen in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 10-1 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won five matches in a row.
Camryn McLelland made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Hailee Lister was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Annie Hill was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Douglas' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Reed, their record now sits at 15-3-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Reed hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Douglas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Reed beat Douglas 8-3 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
