The Gladwin Flying G will venture away from home to take on the St. Louis Sharks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Gladwin's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Farwell with a sharp 12-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Flying G's.
Angelica Corlew made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Clair Sobeck, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Raegan McCartney, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
Gladwin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, St. Louis had just enough and edged out Lake Fenton 4-2 on Saturday.
Paige Luneack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, St. Louis' win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Halle Hoyt, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Gladwin's record now sits at 8-18. As for St. Louis, their record is now 25-4-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Gladwin hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like St. Louis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Gladwin suffered a grim 21-13 defeat to St. Louis when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Flying G's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
