It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Vero Beach Indians can now relate to. They fell 21-12 to the Titans on Friday. Vero Beach lost against Treasure Coast in their previous head to head back in October, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 22-10 score last time.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Aronson, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown. Aronson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards.
Among those leading the charge was George Roberts, who rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Vero Beach to a paltry 208 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Treasure Coast's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out 8.5 times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Omari Kinsler and Richard Kramer who racked up 5.5 sacks between them.
Vero Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Treasure Coast, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Vero Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Treasure Coast will be playing in front of their home fans against DeLand at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (DeLand is ranked 33rd, while Treasure Coast is ranked 11th).
