Basketball Recap: Cadyn Harley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ness City over Decatur Community

Ness City was the 81-78 winner over Decatur Community when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Ness City Eagles fell to the Decatur Community Red Devils 59-53.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cadyn Harley, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 19 points and three steals. Those three steals gave Harley a new career-high. Broxton Gall was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to eight boards and seven assists.

Decatur Community's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brycen Ketterl, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Ketterl has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gage Williby, who went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points and three steals.

Ness City now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Decatur Community, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6.

Ness City will head out on the road to square off against Ellinwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ness City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season. As for Decatur Community, they will square off against St. Francis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Decatur Community's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
