In what's become a running theme this season, the Fort Calhoun Pioneers gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They breezed by Louisville on the road to the tune of 47-16. With Fort Calhoun ahead 33-4 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Leading Fort Calhoun to victory were Bria Bench and Raeann Massey. Bench scored 12 points along with five steals and two blocks, while Massey scored 11 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Bench has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Ansley Elofson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Louisville struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Fort Calhoun racked up 14 assists.
Fort Calhoun is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Louisville, their defeat was their 13th straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Calhoun will take on Concordia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Concordia has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Fort Calhoun will arrive with three straight victories. As for Louisville, they will be playing at home against Douglas County West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Douglas County West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Saturday.
