If the Hillsboro Burros were riding high off their 56-34 takedown of the Franklin Admirals last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hillsboro took a 40-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Columbia Central on Saturday. Hillsboro was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Columbia Central apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Leading Columbia Central to victory were Kayla Crawford and Saviya Morgan. Crawford scored 11 points, while Morgan scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals. The matchup was Morgan's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tionna Davis, who scored 6 points.
Hillsboro's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Columbia Central, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hillsboro will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. As for Columbia Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Blackman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
